The Queen that is Leona

The honest light of day pierces through the clouds after a gloomy darkness, showering the deserving world in all its splendour

What follows are two sets of lyrics of two catchy addictive songs by Leona Lewis, the new babe with the big voice. It's been a while since I've fallen so in love with any particular artist's music, ability and style. Geez, I know a bunch of you would probably laugh at me out there, but what the hell, her voice is freakin flawless, I'd claim now as the best I've heard (suited to my taste that is). I have illegally downloaded her album to temporarily sustain that audio-apettite that have been on 'craving' mode for a while, but I pledge to buy her album from the stores soon. Just let me live through that hell that I call assignment week.

"The Best You Never Had"

"Bleeding Love"

Her album's great by the way, definitely not the one-hit wonder kinda artist. I'm following her career like how I almost religiously follow Steve Vai's. She's the Vai of Vocalists to me.

I'm such a fanboy I'm even a member of her official website!

While she doesn't make me go 'ga-ga' with her looks, she sure has that sweet caramel brown tan that I think is just.. woo la la =D haha (she does look like a man from some odd angles, a trait shared more prominently by Celine Dion)

Reasons I like her style
- Superb vocal range, versatility, technical ability and the way she uses it
- How she doesn't sound like a belting gorilla when she flaunts those powerful vocals (The main reason Whitney Houston never was one of my favs)
- Clear voice
- Doesn't start flaunting her voice like Mariah Carey's annoying whistling voice. She does it with style (Leona, that is)
- Classy looks/style
- Nice brown colour (hahaha)
- Consistent - Just look her up in Youtube for her performances in X-factor. What a find indeed.
- Not lip synching or selling sex appeal =D Truly talented, no lip synching, audio editing, cleavage-parties etc.

Ahh, someone save me from falling deeper into this Leonal-vortex >_< wahahaha, so glad the music industry finally unearthed a TRUELY talented gem~

*fanboy moment over, goes back listening to Leona while reading for assignments*

Of Chimeras and Academia

Just for the sake of nostalgia, I snapped a picture of this bus that used to take me to College on a daily basis (provided it didn't break down). We were at a traffic light near my place, taking the same route that it used to take to get me home =D I even saw the same ol' Uncle Lam driving, ahh.. Gone are those days.

My Weekend
My weekend is brightened by a trip to my girlfriend's house =)

hehe, nahh I wasn't alone *shunks* These were the people present:
Plate face
My pretty girlfriend... behind a plate

Happy
That's better, happy lil girl with Jaclyn flanking her =)

Jac Mich
The same ol' Jaclynders and Michelle (not Lee)

Also, we were joined by Krys' younger bro and a Chimera

I call 'it' the "Chimera Chan" (Had to serve it double portions)

Why were we at Krys' house anyway? Her mom was generous enough to prepare us a nicely made scrumptious home-cooked meal, consisting of...

Briyani! Nasi Briyani! With dry curry chicken already embedded within the kunyit-ized yellow rice! How handy eh? It was arguably the best dish that day, comparable to mamak standard =) Impressive she is, that lady.

followed by..

yet another dish from Mamak cuisine, Mee Mamak~ It's fried spaghetti, like what my old workplace used to do to prepare the dish.

last but not least..

The Fried "water dogs", as Justin lamely tried to translate it from Cantonese =_= It's fried dumplings, also known as fried 'sui gao'. These were goood =p

We brought Krys' mom a White Chocolate Macadamia cake from Secret Recipe *cliche* And we each had a slice after dinner since we stayed till then, leaving them with about half-a-cake by the end of the day *shy* but it's only 4 people in her household at the moment anyway, too much will only go to waste and the siblings will have to have cake for breakfast for a day too many

The afternoon was spent watching TV, playing with Krys' new Metallic Rose coloured Nintendo DSLite and watching Youtube on her laptop, with these among the clips that provoked intense laughter, causing us to lose our asses (laymen would say we laughed our asses off)

"Bura Jianei!"

and..

"Ken Lee~ Tulibu dibu douchoo~"

I was summoned to Fatty Crab's for dinner with ma family, only to rejoin the crowd after dinner for cake and some hanging about. And before I forget..

Our Chimera Chan's attempt at being a "successful future househusband", useful for teamwork activities such as "passing the plate in the kitchen to the sink, where wifey will be washing the plates", since "everybody has a different role to play". Meh~

Back to ma Second Home: Matters of Interest
On a different note
Amanda Roar
Roar~! (That's Amanda caught in a 'Grab your balls ROAR!' pose)

And..
Bleah poing
*bleah* The state we're in sometimes when we think about our classes-to-come, looming due-dates or assignments to write.

Oh, of some interesting changes to our new campus environment, there's a new boy in town..

He's rather short-fused sometimes tho, heh~ "Oh my God!" as Celeste puts it when she first set her eyes on our new rugged funky hunky, classic moments in the University.

And a NEW lecturer comin in to take over the almighty mind-bogglingly boring subject of Lab Management..

To protect his identity, a low cost deliberately-made-ugly mosaic is put over his face. My oh my, are we in for an interesting time with our dear ol' lecturer..

*Note: I'm sure the lecturer didn't mean to deliberately stick his middle finger out at the crowd to gain popularity for a full 30 minutes or so, but it's just a way to support his hand since he was holding a mini-mic to his mouth, as he was hardly audible at all with the mic lowered to his collar. Actually, he's still rather... incomprehensible when he has the mic so close to his mouth, due to his overly fluid manner of fluctuating his vocal amplitude, ahh well, he's gonna be hard to handle, gotta learn to sit in front I guess.

Just for Kicks, an old picture~

With more heads! *don't you just wanna stick something up those nostrils of Jin*

Woohoo here and Woohoo there, here a Woo, there a Woo, everywhere a WooHoo =_=

I'm supposed to be working on my Aquatic Biology turtle essay, but I can't seem to get much certainty on whether it's too late to alter my topic a lil, until 12pm later when I meet my lecturer of course.. Anyway, if approved, I'll be fine =D Been reading, but anyway, I had breakfast in this nasi lemak place in SS2, behind the BHP station and beside the police station. It's just this little shed with some stalls there, nothing glamorous, but damn the Nasi Lemak's good. Gotta think of bringing some friends there soon, probably the numbered gang or my Saturday morning ball group =) Anyway, this place is usually sold out by about 11 on weekdays (I think), and on weekends usually all the good stuff is gone by bout 10am 0_o Gotta be hardworking to get there early to enjoy, they make you work for it =) Big weekend crowd, and they're closed on Sundays too. Ah well, here comes some hastily snapped pictures of the place.

Of the environment of the place from where I sat this morning.

From outside the stall, this is the hot stall itself, obscured by a few random butts.

PUSSIES Kitties
Lately, there's been an increase in stray furry pussies cats in the area I live, specifically around the 'happening' shopping centre, Atria and the food outlets around it. Thing about these miaow-ers is that they're getting so lazy to chase rats since the food outlets pretty much provide them with a full furry pussy belly everyday. So, anytime you're sitting outdoors at a food outlet in the area these days, a lil stray pussy will just come by you and sit beside you, trying to charm some food from your plate which usually works. Like that.

Yeah, Puss in Boots alright. Photos taken with phone camera in bad lighting, no point uploading in full size =_= real grainy pictures.. *look at that middle one! Acting cute so hard!!*

Well of course, we could then imply that the rats have free-reign from the cats *Squeak squeak* So free they are as free as retired holiday-goers. Gone are the Tom & Jerry days where all their lives were about running from that stupid cat that chases them all day.

Anyway, if you love pussy cats, go ahead and dine near some mamak beside Atria, anyone of them, you're bound to get lucky with pussy the cats, be prepared for aggression tho, cuz if you don't feed em anything for too long they start to jump on the chair, stand on two feet and paw you and meow at you till you cough up the food. Aihhh, cats.. Actually, this kinda reminds me of a post I wrote (my second blog post in my life) bout two or more years ago.

Of Food and Nuts

Interestingly named chocolate bar, probably named by some angry woman who was wronged by her man. Not recommended for the faint of Nut heart.

Last Tuesday (or was it two weeks ago?) at Swensen's with TonyJinJinSeonAmandAlvin, wonder if I left anyone out accidentally. Earthquake day, ahhh.. Also a nasty day for our dear Amanda since she lost a few hundred bucks on the same trip, aihhh.. *pat pat* May you stumble across a wad of cash that'll replenish your losses, my friend.

Elections are just over, but here's a story worth mentioning. See how someone has ticked beside the burger? Well, try replacing the burger with some party's logo and that's what you'll see if you saw what one of my close relative did >_< *Hint hint, I've known this relative since before I was born*

Of Shiny Things

To commemorate the shiny building in Bangi where my gf trained in, the one I spend bout two hours on the road to reach.. *salutes with streaming tears*

My laptop which I stripped of its protective plastic sheet after about a year after owning it, or was it half a year? Anyway, badly taken photo with phone and bad lighting yet again, sumimasen. We'll see how your shiny surface degrades with time, dear Lappo, and don't you worry, I'll still use you =)

Before I Forget - Long post ahead with Visuals

I am proud to selectively announce my success in locating my gf's training centre in Bangi last Wednesday. Ok fine, I took a "couple" of wrong turns and made a "number" of U-turns and maybe "a few" extra tolls to get there and back. Also, Because of one stupid mistake in taking a ticket at a toll and then using my faithful Touch N' Go (Sentuh dan Lari), they wiped out all my cash in the card (I'm hoping the value isn't NEGATIVE NOW) and I had to reverse out of the freaking toll -_-" Only to find out I had no cash left because I have forgotten to *poke poke* get some case from the ATM before leaving the Jusco near Bangi *I shopped with my gf, had dinner and watched the movie 'Jumper' with her new found friends/coursemates* Almost stranded to die at the FINAL Sunway toll before I could return to homeground without passing anymore tolls, I finally found two bucks in the form of FOLDED HEARTS in my wallet; One by my gf (oops, ouch, sorry) and the other by my friend, Jaclyn when she was high/drunk and we were playing poker with a pile of RM1 notes on the table - she was randomly grabbing the notes folding ships and hearts =_= I had to win the game, you see. Anyway, chapter closed.

*Words such as "number", "a few" and "couple" in inverted commas were written in a toned down code-like manner to allow readers to develop a more intimate read on the blog. By knowing such codes on the posts used by the author, the relationship between blog and reader would improve and lead to more enjoyment on the reader's point of view. It also serves to reduce the "shame" level of the author

Additionally, I spent my last Saturday attending a field trip to various destinations; the same ol Mining lake in KJ, some peat swamp near Hulu Selangor and FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia), which was of much much fun =D Various living samples were collected from the water-dwelling invertebrates, though little pictures were taken. Anyway, just a few that I'd like to show here.

8th March - Kelana Jaya Tin Mine Lake

First and foremost, the bus trip. Picture on the left was to depict my then loneliness, I was sitting alone T_T Progress to the right shows you how it went, more and more people slept as the bus trip went on. The dude on far right sat diagonally left from Michelle and dropped his cap a number of times as he slept, without knowing it. Mich picked it up for him a couple of times *sigh*

The thing that stabbed my butt as I sat down without a care.

Something I got from the trip in KJ's lake, new wallpaper for my laptop =D

One of the first things we noticed on the lakeside, big dead fish.

Peat Swamp
On to the second location, peat swamp. Here we go~

First thing's first, in came the sexy rubber boots, I had them on too, forgotten to snap a picture of myself with them, damn >_<

Dear lecturer teaching us how to sample the swamp water - she's got her own *ackhemm* personalized army-green coloured rubber boots, don't pray pray

Just to reiterate to you how blindingly bright the sunlight was that day, this picture was taken without flash, and I inverted it. Check out the reflection. I thank Michelle's 'list of things to bring' that included a Cap.

The banks of the peat swamp that subsided due to human burning/cultivation of oil palm plantations, I forgot which. Our lecturer is not happy.

Which lead to students aiding her in a... "recovery plan" for the swamp's water level to rise. You see, there's a drain built at the swamp to drain it's water to the other side of the road for the oil palm plantations, which is causing water levels to drop. By blocking that drainage and with heavy rain falling, the swamp level may rise again.. So....

The first picture was inverted =D

Sneaky shot catching a serious looking Michelle - I think Jin also sneaked one at this particular moment the shot was taken.

The banks of the peat swamp showing its dark brown water, due to an organic substance called tannin which the swamp waters are rich in. It's the same substance you find in tea =)

Random Erected Log

My group's (Jin, Michelle and I) sample vial, with samples drowned in alcohol *prays for them*

Why a DSLR camera pawns a standard compact cam.
Left: My camera's take on a resting dragonfly.
Right: Mich's DSLR's.
*pawned*

The crowd at the swamp =)

FRIM

I think FRIM is a pretty place =)

with BIG ANTS by the river

An obscured waterfall a little off the main path.

A little pond people are playing in, I noticed that further down in the lower landing there are really sharp and scary looking projections from the dividing wall though, not very people-friendly.

Left: Jin's instant-poser antics
Right: An attempt by me to look shocked upon Mich's request, only for me to blink at the final moments -_-

Big Jin =)

Thanks William for taking the pictures for us, but Jin... *smacks head*

And a Happy goodbye back up the bus with a generous display of Merry Jin and Happy Chelle butt!
