And the results told us that..

We didn't win the band category of Emerge. Boo Hoo, only the winners were announced, and they are Bizarre Love Triangle =D Let's give them a BIG HAND!
We did win the MOST POPULAR PERFORMANCE Award though, which is a contest among all the talentime contestants, ngiekz! That's why, we're HAPPY! XD
I shall lay them to rest for now =) You've served me well

Also, to the fecked band who screwed everyone up and still didn't win anything, let's give them a big hand.

It's called the "Middle finger of the Apocalypse"

Losers' Night Out

After such a 'tak puas' day at our finals, I somehow felt that I can't just go home and sleep at 9pm even though my body was screaming "retire me.... pleassssse". So, sad and lonely me found an equally sad and lonely le Bounce online, where we masterminded a yumchar session; Losers' Night Out: The Merdeka Series.

After unsuccessful summoning of several fellow losers, le Bounce was about to retire to bathe (she was also MSN-ing another loser who was bored and reluctant to retire on Merdeka's eve without going out. Then, Jac called, and that changed it all. Loser le Bounce, Loser Kien, Loser Shaw (Other loser talking to le Bounce) and Loser Jac; that's FOUR people, we have a night out! Just as le Bounce and Loser Shaw decided to go bathe and retire with heavy hearts, I called loser le Bounce as she was undoing the final bits of her undergarments to bathe and call it a night (ok la, actually, I have no clue if she even made a move to take off anything yet, tee hee, just to get readers interested =D).

The down part of it all? I was made the biggest loser since I had to pick them all up + they were basically living in... opposite directions. Being made the "Ahmad" of the night, I was automatically made Loser Champ which was later aggravated when they triple-teamed me with their flexible, razor-edged tongues (No, sadly, there was no oral sex nor making out involved).

We adjourned to the Old Town Kopitiam kopikat, "Old Taste" in SS2 which offers pretty good but to some (the three other losers other than hungry-me), intimidating service, since they all wear full-black outfits and stand in lines facing you with a somewhat expectant expression. I thought they were pretty nice? At the stroke of midnight I actually did a Loud 'MERDEKA' Growl, which garnered no response from the laid-back crowd (does ~10 ppl count as a crowd?) and my embarrassed, face-hiding fellow losers. Anyway, at the end of the night, we were practically chased out since they had to bring us the bill without us asking when they were closing, which caused us to perform a grand migration to Yippee Cup, where only I ordered a drink. The other three freeloaders watched and gossiped as they did before as I sucked my ball-free drink (they ran out of the balls or more well-known as "pearls" again).

So much rubbish said, so much gossip made.
what started as a desperate try turned into a crappy, lame lullaby
Losers unite, yeah baby that's right!
Next year when loneliness drives us insane, let's reunite and do this again

Loser 1: Jo Kien
Loser 2: le Bounce
Loser 3: Jaclyn
Loser 4: Shaw Pei

Hoo ha~!

Oh yes, I forgot, Selamat Hari Merdeka~! *Old-fashioned but still much practiced MERDEKA cheer*

*sadly, not a single photograph was taken >_<

Fkecin Bozos

*If you're gonna come up to me and tell me not to cause controversy or complain after reading me whine, don't read on. Or I'll just have to tell you to feck off anyway. I believe it's my right to complain about my day here, so don't tell me how to do it. Oh yeah, it's merely an expression of frustration here, I don't expect any action to be taken nor do I intend to stir trouble/piss anyone off*

Someboday's feelin angstay.

My verdict on the Finals
We didn't play horribly nor did we play perfectly, but we could've played a lot better than what we did today if we were actually given a chance to do a sound check. Results due tomorrow night. While the organizers said sound checks for talent time contestants should start at 12 latest, the Singaporean worship team occupied the stage till over 1pm. It was bad enough that way, but some smelly band contestant had to aggravate things by taking 15-20 minutes to do their sound check when we're all only supposed to be allocated 2 minutes.

Result of that?
- Every vocal, freestyle, hosts and 2 bands (Us and MagicGems) were deprived of our deserved sound checks.
- Jin's lead guitar solo could not be heard well because the volume levels were not balanced enough
- We didn't get a chance to 'feel' the stage or anything like that before we actually had to perform. It helps to at least know the stage before playing.
- MagicGems, supposed favourites for the finals who also didn't get a chance to soundcheck, also had problems with their volume and stuff.
- The feckers that took the feckin stage for 15-20 fecking minutes did much better than in rehearsals, though they still had an awkward off-tone moment.

I'm not trying to be a sore loser (we don't even know if we lost yet anyway) here, but for all that feckin effort we put in to stay back to attend those 8pm rehearsals PUNCTUALLY every week and all that time, money and effort we put in to practice in the studios throughout the feckin competition, I feel we deserved to be treated a lil more fairly. Also, I'm not suggesting if we did get to sound check, we're automatic champions nor did I mention we're better than that fecked band. The feckin keyboardist could not figure out how to use the keyboard effects on a keyboard she brought herself and that's what took them feckin forever. Come on, we took the initiative to change our strings, get our equipment right and tight, tune our guitars etc etc before takin the stage, it's your feckin responsibility to learn how to use a fecking instrument you brought to the FINALS OF THE COMPETITION. Why not you bring me up there and teach me how to play piano and let the other contestants wait for me to learn up that song from scratch in the finals? Pretty good idea eh? Feckin hell.

I didn't feel it so much in the company of my supportive kawan-kawans (yang hebat) earlier, but now that I'm home and alone, I feel like all our work is being thrown to waste not because we didn't try our best or anything, but because of a nasty stroke of 'luck' by an even nastier bunch of people.

Anyway, blasted all the shit outta me, now for lovelier stuff.

I'd like to thank Jac for coming down all the way from Kedah to watch us play, along with Mich and Joanna (my fellow yellow-donning partner for the day), thanks a lot even if you all, like Justin during the semi-finals, did not make it on time to watch our performance

And also, Poing, Jin Seon, Michy, for coming and sitting out the whole ordeal of it and supporting the band as well.

Last but not least, dear Shen for actually coming on time (the only person I invited to come who came on time to watch our performance) to watch our performance. I'd also like to apologize for being too busy to attend to you at all during the day, poor thing had to sit back there alone for quite a while *pat pat* I owe you one =)

All the best to all the contestants, feckers or not =)

It is time to..

Emerge! It is THE day... before THE DAAAAAAY (Technically, it already is 'THE DAAAAAAY' since it's past twelve but.. oh what the heck)

Emerge KL Finals, Sparks for Laughter being the first band/performance of the day, said to start at 2pm in Sunway Convention Centre. Will I see you there? We're ready to end this once and for all, intending to come out with our heads (and guitars) high.

Will we reenact this scene? well, actually we probably will even if we're the 'last kuda' CHOY

Results to be announced on Sunday night.

Outrageousness

I just took a piss and proceeded to wash and wipe my hands try when something happened, reminding me to write this post. I've seen it many times, but I still don't get it. Take me as an example, I got pretty big hands for my size, prob have a pinky-thumb reach of bout 17-19cm (estimate) and I only need about 6 or so inches of tissue paper from the dispenser to THOROUGHLY dry my hands after washing them. I've consistently seen people with hands no more sizable than mine nonchalantly pulling and pulling and pulling the friggin paper till it comes up to at least 5-10 times longer than what I use. What, the, heck is with them? And when they're done pulling, they crumple it in a ball and throw it away, basically only using the surface of that packed tissue ball to wipe their hands. I know it's free, but you don't have to exercise your (undeserved) right to waste, do you? A lil more is fine, but come on, standing there pulling tissue out continuously for 5 seconds? pffffft.

*and then there are those who don't wash/wipe their hands after taking a piss *Crop science field trip lecturer la la la*

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Man, when such songs play at the right times, it really hits the nail right on the spot. In an entirely heterosexual note, I think I'm gonna miss Justin *blush*

No one to:
- play bball with me when everyone else's lazy (not that he's really hardworking)
- have spontaneous yumcha/dinner (damn lotus) sessions with
- hit Tony's balls when we're gettin drunk (I ain't doin it)
- have threesomes and foursomes with Jaclyn (now in Kedah) and Michelle (gonna be gone)

Aww mannnn

Good riddance, bon voyage~

Break a String..

..or two.

Last nigh, I thought I'd come about changing Emma's strings since it's just a week before Emerge KL's finals. So it all went well and I pricked my left thumb with the G string and it bled disgustingly until the sixth string (high E). As I fixed on the new string, the end containing the ball-bearing broke off -_- One brand new string wasted, and it ain't even my fault. Then I thought I'd fasten on a spare acoustic string of the same thickness and the same thing repeated itself.

I had a great day though, farewell/meeting up old friends for dinner =) Pics to come.

Chan: Ireland-bound on Tuesday.
Carrot: Still gonna be around.
Michelle: Till end of the month.
Yeong Jer: Bout the same as Chan
Kam Tong: FFK-ed and was absent -_- hehe

*oh yeah, the friggin third high E string is finally safely fastened in place and Emma is finally, finally, in tune =) Good night Blog, it's time to do Genomics.

All that coupled with night time rehearsals in City Harvest Church and Sparks' own jamming time.. I can safely conclude that I'm in a

Schedule.

Woke up late at 6.15am (yes, can you imagine, that's considered late) but made it on time to uni to attend the BiotechCorp Seminar I agreed to help KC in weeks ago. The place promised a whole day of good food (till five at least) and some really interesting presentations, some in uglier manners than others. Ah well, I've learnt quite a bit from it and I must say, that one Professor Bruce Chassy gave one heckuva talk, while one of our Malaysian lawyer philosophical Doctors publicly embarrassed herself when she stuttered and heaved through a cut & pasted wrongly paste presentation and failed to answer questions from floor members that even a third year student like me could answer. Come on, where's the preparation and confidence expected of a member of her class? phD holder, LAW, damn?

After all that horsiness in the Palace of the Golden Horses, to Monash we returned before I joined my bandits (bandmates) for dinner and 3 hours of blood-sweat-and-tears jamming in the studio to workout our grand song for Emerge KL's finals. My legs are crying now, I can hear them. Most importantly, we've made some progress, and in the process, we've coined a new term for such sessions: "Jamming with a Mission", while the usual 'just-for-fun' sessions I'd name "Jamming for Nuts"

Ahh, I is tired, nite nite world!

Interest Aroused

The new C902 that's being advertised in pre-movie cinema advertisements now, the bomb. Le Bounce Bomb. Pretty
I likey

Too bad when I had the opportunity to check earlier, the original handset would set me back RM1450, and the AP would cost bout RM1200 if I'm not mistaken. Played around with the dummy and checked it out on my usual phone research site introduced to me by Kam Tong. Ah well, my phone's serving me fine anyway, guess I'll push the thoughts aside for now. My birthday's in 2 months by the way. I think I'll need a real camera rather than a phone actually, since the family-camera ain't really up to scratch and it always seems to be occupied or unavailable when I need em. Date of birth: 9th October 1987 Maybe a semi-pro camera? Dad said I should skip to DSLRs instead, but the thought of carrying a freaking tank to holiday/hike/field trip is just a turn off. Christmas isn't too late either

One of those retarded whiny "I want X" moments (let X be item of interest)

Omma!

*EDIT*
Damn, just moments after thinking about splurging, my grandfather tells me some Indian lady just came by my house to return my wallet which slipped off my bag without me knowing when I was getting up my car to send Justin home beside the basketball court. Damn, talk about being lucky and kind-hearted people, my third time going through this, I must be quite a lucky mega-dumbo. To the lady who brought my wallet back this time, thank you so much, I wish you the best for everything. She was honest enough not to take my RM1 (I'm not being sarcastic) nor anything else to make my life difficult. *Phew*

Vocabulary Expansion

Here are some words that have been used way too much today.

Ómmà (han yu pin yin notation applies) : Word stolen from Jin Seon's Korean conversation with her Ómmà (mother), pronounced with an extra emphasis on the "mm" to create bovine-reminiscent sounds. Currently being misused when bored and for all the wrong reasons.

Lé Bounce (emphasis placed on the "ounce" of the "bounce" if you get what I mean): Poing's (ok, Poh Yng's) new nickname, coined by yours truly when bored.

Wall.E: Stupid movie has a bad influence to our language. Very sweet + environmentally friendly movie though >_<

Eve (somehow pronounced as Eve-ah in the movie) : Another character from the Wall.E movie.

Gombak Weekend

Over the weekend, I volunteered to be a demonstrator for the Environmental Science field trips I've once attended as a student in my first year; same places, same lecturer, just different faces. Surprisingly, students were quite cooperative and I didn't feel awkward being a first-time demo who really doesn't have much to do but to enjoy the trip. Below is a rock I found by the Gombak stream, any geologist able to decipher what's up with it? White rock with red lines all over it, probably some layer of red stone underneath. Dr. Cathy suggested I (Google how to and) polish it >_< haha (which I actually may...)

The rock
Don't remember seeing this the last time I was in Gombak as a first year, plenty this time, pretty! (Don't ask, we don't know the species nor did we consult our lecturer)

Also, on a stroke of luck, Shen and I each got paid some money because the non-voluntary demo who's supposed to get paid was absent on Saturday, so we split her share =D hehe, it's measley, I assure you, but it's still good when I expected nothing =D

May the Monday blues begin

YES WE ARE
SPARKS FOR LAUGHTER ARE IN THE FINALS OF EMERGE KL

Which takes place on either the 30th or 31st of August =D

Clockwise from top left: Shim, Jin, Tony, Alvin, Jin Seon, Wen Han (above), Amanda, Michelle, Poing, Me *sweet smile*

Can you tell I'm happy?

Can you, can you, can you, can you??
Serious mode =D

My pick and Cowboy hat *Yeehawwww* (accompanied by my guitar and lab coat)

For Wei Ern, can't help taking a picture since it's "Karrot O", just for you =D

*
Grammy moment begins*
To all the dudes & dudettes who came to cheer for our band today, thank you. To all the people who voted with their money through SMS, Thank you too =D And for those who have supported us but did not show up, thank you, but do show up for the finals (e.g. Shen, Suk Jiun, Carrot? etc etc) And to Justin who showed up just when the judges finished commenting as our last man, Tony left the stage, I shall offer you my cyber-pats *pat pat* And you'll be in Ireland when we play for the finals too, *bah*
*Grammy moment ends*

Our rhythm guitarist (Me la -_-) received some 'constructive criticism" (kena kutuk) by a judge for my rhythm lines, which I fully accept and understand, though my effects pedal did play a role in that gritty-choppy sound (which sounds sweet for fat, rock-oriented power chords). Jin is tempting me to buy more effects pedals, NO NO NO NO, I'm BROKE ok!

Most importantly....

WE'RE IN THE FINALS! WOOT!

Early Rise

In the (research) lab already, flying through a semi-jammed LDP to deliver bouncy Poing to her lab just on time (ok, maybe 5 minutes late, but what the heck). Something odd and a lil scary just happened. Michelle the technical officer (or something) just came in asking me to help with pouring liquid nitrogen from one tank to another, and the idiot who was doing it with me tilted it so fast that some of the liquid nitrogen recoiled right on my naked hand and shoe while we're pouring. I was kinda expecting a lil more than the cool tingly feeling that I got, maybe some burn/numbing freeze? Ah well, not complaining of my good fortune anyway, it's a sign for tonight :p Class starts at 12, boo hoo, time to decompose, boo boo baa baa~

Semi Finals

Le Emerge semi finals commences tomorrow night at 8pm (though we'd be there much earlier), hoo hoo haa haa! I wish us (hehe) all good luck! May we play like we play!

Come lend give us some supp
ort will ya, people out there? XD Nyahahaha

MTV Asia Awards 2008

It was a blast, I am now more ready to die as a person since I've seen Leona Lewis (Breakthrough Artist winner) in person. When I saw her standing on that stage singing 'Better in Time' and Bleeding Love', my brain went into a lil trance and my eyes were rather moisty *shy* Though the stupid girls around me cheering SCREAMING non-stop kinda spoiled my moment a bit. It still was beautiful, she seems to have lost a lil weight and gotten a lil more tanned, which is so, the, uber, mega sexy. She's hot =D Too bad she didn't appear in the post-party or I would've gotten her autograph NO MATTER WHAT (my sister and I even had permanent silver marker pens ready, which unfortunately, never got to be used).

This is was her last night =)
*love*
Did I also mention Leona has the cutest, most adorable and gentle voice when she gave her speech? So cuteeeeeee
What she wore after her performance =)

Others like the Click Five, Jared Leto, Jacklyn Victor, Panic in the Disco were all in the post party, resulting in some shoulder-brushing, photo-taking etc from everyone. I didn't really do much but take a few glances or ask my sister if she wanted to take photos there, but she was too shy. One of the funnier things that happened was we saw this guy who REALLY looked like Jared Leto, but in fact, wasn't him. My sister ALMOST went up for a photo >_< good =")" style="font-weight: bold;">

Pussycat Dolls
Jared Leto
Karen Mok
JabbaWockeez (these dudes were just dancers, sporting a white expressionless mask, but they were friggin cool alright)
Super Junior (giant Korean boy band; more than 6 members)
Leo Ku
One Republic Stefanie Sun
Yovie and Nuno (Indonesian band)
Chicosci (Phillipino band)
Lee Yu Chun
Show Lo
Electrico (Singaporean band)
TOR + Saksit
The Script (Irish band, they were pretty good)
Denise Keller (pretty hot)
Dj Utt
Panic at the Disco The Click Five
Project EAR
Jacklyn Viktor
Nicholas Teo
LEONA LEWIS!

(bolded artists performed that night)

To be honest, I haven't seen half the performers/winners before, but it was still great, those who performed proved that they deserved the awards.

Hangover Wars

Justin’s verse
Another night of gay,
has come and gone away,
Tequila and wine,
I don’t wanna be gone

Mmmmm~

Justin: *gulp gulp yap yap yap*

Mine
May be surrounded by,
two other idiots I,
still feel we got owned,
I knew we were gone~

Me: *yap dance sway dies*

oh, you missed it, ya know~
(To our birthday girl Wei Ern, who’d rather work than party)

Dedication to Justin; supplier of the OH-liquid
We’ve been drinking all the liquor,
that ya left with me,
each one a glass or four two,
We’re fine Tony, how are you?

Tony: *Zzzzzz*

We would leave them but we knew that you ain’t drank enough,
my wine was cold and flat,
and we deserved more…
than that~

Mine
Another vomit stain,
another smelly place,
not lucky I know,
But I don’t wanna be gone,
Justin: but you got to be gone

Chorus by Tony before arriving, with backups by Jaclyn from Penang
Let me be gone,
I’m just too far,
from where you are,
I wanna be gone

Tony’s part
And I feel just like I’m drinking,
someone else’s wine,
it’s like I just stepped inside,
when everything was going wrong~

To Wei Ern
And then I know just why you could not come along with me,
this was not your dream,
but you always would eat
with me

Justin’s outburst
Another night of gay has come and gone away,
And when the liquor is gone,
I just wanna go home,
Let me go home

Justin’s 9.30am chorus
Let me go home,
I’ve had my fun,
babies I’m done,
now lemme go home

Tony after breakfast
Let me go home owhhhh owh owh ouwoooo,
It’ll all be alright,
I’ll be home tonight,
I’m going back
home

Lab Solo

After 3 hours of boring genomics lab, I adjourn to my (shared) research lab, seeking refuge from the harsh outside world alone. Bah, I'm waiting for a carrot to come from Klang. The grand opening ceremony of the LDP jam should be beginning any time now, hoo ray!
Photobucket
I like this picture.
Food Foundry, solution-X, Wei Ern and Justin, you'd all better be worth this lonesome lab time.

I hope know they are
